Himmat Museum

The Himmat Museum is a landmark institution dedicated to the spirit and legacy of the celebrated Indian sculptor, Shri Himmat Shah. Conceived as a space of artistic freedom and excellence, the museum embodies
the Foundation’s vision of creating environments where creativity can thrive withoutboundaries. Designed by Prize–winning Japanese architect Rahul Gore of _Opolis design studio, the museum stands in Bodhgama, on the outskirts of Patna, as a beacon of minimalist design and cultural aspiration.
Spanning 12,000 square feet, the museum’s architecture emphasizes openness, natural light, and ventilation, creating a serene and contemplative atmosphere for both artists and visitors. Its minimalist aesthetic reflects the purity of form and function, while its thoughtful design ensures that art remains the central focus. The building itself becomes an extension of the Foundation’s ethos—where simplicity, clarity, and harmony guide the experience of art.

The museum houses the permanent art collection of the Saraswati Foundation, alongside remarkable works produced at the Arpana Kala Kendra. Visitors are welcomed on the ground floor, which features a reception and seating area, while the first and second floors display the
Foundation’s permanent collection.
A distinctive feature of the Himmat Museum is its third‐floor temporary exhibition space, reserved for promising young artists. By opening its doors to emerging talent, the Foundation ensures that the museum remains a dynamic and evolving institution, fostering dialogue
between established masters and new voices. Entry to the museum is free and by appointment, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
